Philament Gypsum – just like Philament Model and Essence – is member of the product group containing gypsum. Their common characteristic is that the added gypsum changes the usual properties of the plastic, both functionally and aesthetically. The mineral content of Philament Essence is minimal, it does not contains pigments, and this combination resulted in an easy-to-use filament. The surface of printed objects is homogeneous and matt. Layers are barely visible, even in case of objects with shorter printing time, and the usual surface roughness is blurred. Mechanical post-processing of objects (polishing, carving, etc.) is easier than in case of standard PLA.
The strength, hardness, and heat resistance of filament reinforced with glass fiber go far beyond the characteristics of the standard PLA. It can withstand heat of up to 100 0C. The biopolymer-based filament is also suitable for printing lightweight parts, even applicable for replacing metal parts. The printed surface is unique, glassy, so it is also a perfect choice for designers. The warping of objects printed with Philament Glass Reinforced is very low. No need for any special nozzle. Recommended printing parameters: 215 0C nozzle, 60 0C bed.
Objects printed with traditional PLA filament can lose their shape and partially deform at temperatures above 60 °C. Philament Heat Resistant overcomes this problem.If the objects are printed with Philament Heat Resistant filament are heat-treated at a temperature of 80 to 100 °C for 30 to 60 minutes after printing, the object can later withstand a heat load of 130 °C.
Transparent PLA filaments have a slight yellowish color, in addition, if you print thicker objects, the transparency almost disappears. With Philament High Transparent you can get an almost water-clear finish. It is an easy-to-print filament, in a wide range of printing temperature. The transparency of the printed object can be improved by changing the printing parameters: a nozzle with larger diameter, and the higher temperature and the slower printing also result in more transparent surface.
Philament Antibacterial is a special filament which provides antimicrobial protection against a wide variety of microorganisms. Its antibacterial and fungicide properties are based on metal ions. In objects printed with Philament Antibacterial filament, the built-in metal ion complexes block the metabolic processes of bacteria and fungi by an enzymatic reaction, thus preventing their growth. A similar mechanism is present at disinfectants, various preservatives, wash-off and leave-on products.
Philament Antibacterial provides lifelong lasting antimicrobial protection against Gram positive (e.g. Enterococcus, Bacillus etc.) and Gram-negative (e.g. Salmonella, Legionella etc.) bacteria, and different fungi, yeasts and algae fungus. Its use is advantageous where the presence of these microorganisms is harmful, e.g. in hospitals, shops, households, beauty salons. With Philament Antibacterial, objects exposed to microbial infection can be 3D printed.
The active metal ion substance is incorporated in the PLA polymer matrix, and it does not have any negative impact on PLA’s favorable mechanical and printing properties. Philament Antibacterial can be printed in wide range temperature: 195-215 0C, without changing antibacterial properties. Solubility of the active metal ions and their migration to the surface is very low, so the dissolution from 3D printed objects is minimal, providing long-lasting protection for the object.
The active antimicrobial substance has been extensively tested using internationally accepted methods: ISO 22196, ASTM E2180 and JIS standards.
Philament Antiviral guarantees antimicrobial, antibacterial protection for the lifetime of the 3D printed products. Due to the applied silver ion technology it could be more effective in protection against viruses than our previous product in medical product line, Philament Antibacterial. The built-in active substance of Philament Antiviral inactivates several viruses also and it has been tested to be effective against e.g. Feline Coronavirus, H1N1 and Norovirus. The antimicrobial effectivity of the active substance has been proved on different surfaces, the antiviral efficacy on a PLA surface is under testing.
Objects printed with Philament Foam have got a foamy, spongy texture. The hard 3D printed foam has open cell structure. Due to the foamed structure, the layers are barely visible, and it has a nice, smooth surface. However, it can be easily sanded, cut, painted and shaped as needed. The beige color variant looks natural and the black one has a particularly shiny matte finish.
The structure of the foam, the quality and structure of the surface can be widely modified by changing the printing settings.
Objects with the required density and foam structure can be printed by setting the parameters accordingly.
At higher temperatures, lower flow and speed, and with a large nozzle the lightest foam can be produced. Using the standard PLA settings, the result is a tough foam and impact resistance. The density of an object made of Philament Foam is 50-60% of that of an object printed with standard PLA. Depending on the settings, it can be varied from 0.6 g / cm3 up to 1.2 g / cm3.
Philament Foam is suitable for applications where light 3D printed objects are needed, e.g. automotive industry, modelling or founding. Its foamed structure can be exploited in printing art objects, sculptures, and biologically active substrates. It can be applied as support material also.
Philament Tribo is a special filament with unique tribological characteristics, similar to Teflon® (DuPont). This material designed for printing parts which are in contact with each other, and are moving on each other surfaces.
High wear resistance, high strength, matt-white printed surface. The printed object can be easily shaped and polished.
Philament Support is a PLA-based filament, developed for 3D printings which need support.
As opposed to the soluble support materials Philament Support is an easy to break-away filament, so the vast majority of the support material can be removed quickly. Any remaining support on the surface can be completely removed by sanding. The result is a clean printing surface, there is no or minimal need for post-processing.
Also suitable for printing the complexly structured supports. It is compatible with FDM filaments and works well with them.
Printing with Philament Support is simple, settings are similar to PLA’s: printing temperature 190-215 0C, bed temperature 60 0C.
